Kendall: Jeff, I'm really stressed and angry. What do I do? I don't want to hurt anyone but it builds up.
Jeff: Hey man. We all feel stressed sometimes. Coping skills can help. When I'm stressed, I crank my music and play my drums hard. What works for you? The important thing is that you deal with it in a healthy way and find a trusted adult to talk to.
Alicia: There's this girl at my school spreading rumors about me. It's online too. What would you do if this happened to you?
Jeff: Alicia, so sorry to hear about this. If it was me, I would let my parents and my mentor know about it and do my best to disconnect.
If you follow all of the conversations online and obsess about it you'll just increase your anxiety. Unplug from the negative people and plug in with positive people that build you up. You can't control others actions, but you can control your re-action. Words only have the power that you give them.
Do your best to be kind to people at your school and watch how people stick up for you because of your character. It may not happen right away but without FUEL rumors FADE. Don't let the rumors make you upset. You are in control of your mood. Don't give anyone else that power.
Shi: I just got pushed down the stairs by a girl at my school. I really hurt my hand. I told my teacher and they won't do anything.
Jeff: Whoa, this is super serious. This isn't bullying. This is assault and assault is a CRIME! Make sure you tell your parents and your principal. If that doesn't work or you are still in danger, you need to tell the police. You might be scared to report it but my guess is that you don't feel safe at school after what happened.
This person needs to be held accountable before they hurt someone worse. Stand up for yourself and report this right away. No one deserves to be threatened or hurt like that.
